Social Media Recruitment Now Trending in All Industries

All employers share at least one common goal — to find good employees and find them quickly. Well, if you want to find the right people, you need to look for them in the right places at the right time. And according to recent surveys, the marketing industry is number one in recruiting their staff in the right places — social media platforms.

Social media platforms are the most efficient recruitment tool for employers today

Not only do social networks reduce recruiters’ time to find suitable candidates, they also minimize the cost per hire.  After all, advertising on social media can often be a cheaper alternative to a job board.

So it is no wonder that more than 90 percent of all employers use social media to find their potential hirees, often involving their employees in sharing their recruitment content.

And it may also come as no surprise that for 85% of companies, their most common content topic to post is job vacancy. What is, however, interesting is that other types of topics such as company news or event promotions contribute to attracting more and more passive candidates online.

In fact, many companies are now utilizing templates for Instagram posts to create eye-catching and engaging content that appeals to potential candidates.

Companies use video as the most common post type

When companies were asked about the most common content type they post on their social media channels, 61% of them admitted that they bring into play videos, outranking multiple images or links. It surely looks like video posts appeal to potential candidates the most, and we may see this trend rise in future.

Marketing is the leading industry in social media recruitment

More than 95% of job seekers make use of social media in order to find a job. And who would target the right audience better than the marketing sector?

Followed closely by hospitality, management consulting, retail and IT, the marketing industry leads in conducting recruitment via social media, as 86% of marketing agencies use social networks to hire their staff. It is a high number, especially when compared to industries such as construction or finance with less than 40% of companies using social networks for hiring.

So if you are interested in a top-notch job at a marketing agency or marketing consulting firm, there is a good chance that you will land one just by watching out for posts on their social media channels. And it might even come in the form of a video!

Employers simply like LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a key player when it comes to social recruitment, as more than 90% of teams are looking for their potential staff there. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter come next but company preferences vary from region to region and from industry to industry.

For instance, when employers target designers or marketers, they tend to turn to Instagram and its 2.3 billion active users, while favoring GitHub or Reddit when they are in need of developers.

Whatever your preference, it seems like social media platforms will carry on shaping recruitment strategies, making it easier for both — a casual job seeker and an eager recruiter — to connect effectively and with ease.
